Yanling received her Master of Science degree in Genetics from the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Sciences Academy in Beijing, China. In the Fall of 2004, Yanling came to the United States to pursue a Ph. D. degree in Biochemistry at Louisiana State University. She joined LiCata lab to study protein-DNA interactions.
